Certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI-C)
Clinicians interested in getting certified in CBT-I can enroll in our program.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is the gold-standard, recommended first-line treatment for insomnia. It is endorsed as the preferred treatment for insomnia -- above any prescription or over-the-counter medications, any supplements, or any other devices, strategies, or available treatments. Yet, there are not enough providers. Our program is accredited by the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine to provide the training necessary to complete the CBTI-C exam offered by the Board of Behavioral Sleep Medicine.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Graduates of the program will receive:
- A completion letter attesting to their successful completion of the program. This letter can be used to take the CBTI-C exam.
- A custom certificate to hang on the wall, attesting to their completion of the training program.
The program consists of the following elements:
- Completion of a live weekend workshop on the basics of CBT-I. This workshop is live and synchronous, and is offered in person or remotely via ZOOM. All attendees receive a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education credits for completing the workshop. Read more about our workshop.
- Weekly attendance at our weekly BSMinar webinar series. It is expected that enrollees will attend a minimum of 10 seminars, but they don't all need to be in a row. Also, almost all webinars are eligible for 1 continuing education credit. Read more about our seminar series.
- Completion of a mentored reading list. This reading list was assembled to make sure that those enrolled in the program have command of at least some of the key reference works in the field of CBT-I. Regular check-ins with program faculty will ensure that any questions that arise are addressed.
- A set of previously-recorded webinars will be made available for participants in the program to view, in order to learn directly from some of the leading experts in the field.
- It is expected that participants in the program will have access to patients / clients with which they will practice their CBT-I skills. A minimum of 25 hours of direct provision of CBT-I is required for certification. This will be documented as part of the program.
- All participants in the program will have access to up to 12 sessions of live consultation sessions with program faculty, though they will only need to complete a minimum of 10 of these sessions, as long as the sessions address a sufficient number of hours of patient care. These sessions will include no more than 4 trainees in an online group (delivered via ZOOM), where clinical issues are dicussed. If more than 12 sessions are required, there will be options for extending consultation to more sessions.
