We have several opportunities for graduate students in the lab:
PSYCHIATRY RESIDENCY ELECTIVE
Psychiatry residents at the University of Arizona have several opportunities for rotating with our group.
We currently offer a 4th-year residency elective in Behavioral Sleep Medicine. This includes a minimum of one half-day clinic per week, for a minimum of 8 weeks and up to 1 year of training that includes didactic sessions, readings, clinical observations, and taking on your own supervised cases.
The Behavioral Sleep Medicine residency elective is affiliated with the Psychiatry Residency program run through the Department of Psychiatry in the College of Medicine. This residency elective will residents’ experience in Behavioral Sleep Medicine in general and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia in specific. The resident is expected to commit 15 hours per week to this rotation, distributed approximately as follows:
(1) Approximately 7-10 hours each week in direct patient contact (clinical interview, assessment, follow-up sessions),
(2) Approximately 2-3 hours each week interpreting results, writing notes and reports, and preparing materials,
(3) Approximately 1 hour each week in supervision,
(4) Approximately 1 hour each week in a group didactic session, and
(5) Approximately 1-3 hour each week completing reading assignments and discussing them.

SLEEP MEDICINE FELLOWSHIP
An insomnia treatment program is integral to any ACGME Sleep fellowship. With this in mind, the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Clinic is integrated into the Sleep Medicine fellowship in the Department of Medicine. For more information, contact that program.
